Attention all Tampa Bay singles: If you think you’re going to be successful in the dating scene here, the people from Forbes.com and Kiplinger may try to convince you otherwise. Furthermore, recent “best cities” ratings in both Fast Company and Outside magazines don’t have Tampa Bay anywhere on the map for any of their top cities. But before you pack your bags and move to Denver (#1 on the Forbes list), you might want to re-evaluate the situation.
In a recent extensive survey of several thousand Tampa Bay singles, the question was asked, “What is your biggest dating challenge?” Here’s a few of the more common responses:
“I’m uncomfortable approaching someone…what if they say ‘No’?”
“I don’t know how to tell someone that I’m not interested…I have difficulty saying “No” and I’m afraid I’ll hurt their feelings.”
“I feel like my expectations are too high and unrealistic, but I always end up with people who are well below the standards I set.”
There are hundred’s of thousands singles in the greater Tampa Bay metropolitan area and all the nightclubs, restaurants, museums, internet dating opportunities or even our cost of living (all of the Forbes’ primary evaluation criteria) that Denver, Boston (#2) or Phoenix (#3) have, will NOT make any of the struggling singles any more successful in their relationships. Being single is a difficult challenge and it can be emotionally draining.
